Dear Friends,
Sometimes our path is unclear, sometimes it seems like it is uphill all the way or that there is no trail or enough light to guide us. When I think of young Mary, laying her son Jesus down in a manger after a trip to Bethlehem while nine months pregnant, with no room at the inn, I think her path was not one that seemed all that easy or very clear at that moment.
I am sure she was encouraged that she was on the right path when the shepherds showed up and let her know that an angel had appeared to them and proclaimed, “. . . a Savior has been born to you: he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” -Luke 2:11b-12.
As a result, “Mary treasured up all of these things and pondered them in her heart.” -Luke 2:19. And how about the shepherds who had no idea that their path would lead them to see a multitude of angels, visit the Savior and now return, “. . . glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen which were just as they had been told.” -Luke 2:20. I’m pretty sure their path was never the same again.
In this month’s newsletter we share the story of Jerome’s path, one where a lot of people were involved. Through our Pathway Home program, we had the opportunity to teach him some of the life skills he needed as we worked with him to find his home. We are proud of him and so many others who we have been able to help find housing and a new life.
This Christmas season, we thank you for helping make someone’s path a little easier, a bit more clear, maybe more well-lit. It takes all of us working together, Mission staff, volunteers and generous donors, trusting God that we are walking on the path where He is leading.
Jesus loves you,
