The tables were set for a festive evening. Silverware perfectly rolled into red and green napkins. Smiling volunteers adorned with Santa hats and Christmas attire. Holiday-themed plates piled high with glazed ham, rosemary garlic potatoes, roasted vegetables and fresh dinner rolls.
We get excited each year to host our guests at the annual Fort Collins Rescue Mission Christmas Banquet. And 2019 was no different. We welcomed more than 100 men, women and families into our doors at the Mission on Thursday, December 19. With the help of nearly a dozen volunteers, every guest was waited on and welcomed with a friendly exchange or an encouraging handshake.
Each year, our goal is to make the Christmas banquet feel extra special with cheerful decorations, a chapel service, friendly volunteers, a delicious meal and a gift for every guest. It’s our way of letting them know that we care, especially during the holidays. To let them know that they are seen. They are valued. And they are loved.
It’s through the warm smiles of our guests that we know we made a small difference in their lives this holiday season. If we can show one glimmer of hope and share Christ’s love with others during this special time of year, we are forever grateful.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas from our family to yours. Here’s to planning another beautiful banquet and making spirits bright in 2020!
